Your team of the Elbterrasse Woerlitz
Our house exists since 1904 and can therefore look back on a very long tradition. Due to the charming location directly on the Elbe River with unspoiled nature and numerous sights in the surrounding area, the Elbterrasse Wörlitz is perfect as an excursion restaurant or accommodation for multi-day trips.
From time immemorial, the Elbe terrace has been a popular place for excursions, especially in the summer months. In autumn and winter, as far as the ferry conditions allowed, people met for a price skat or slaughtering party. A nice incident is handed down from 1929:
"A slaughter festival with obstacles took place yesterday, Sunday, on the Elbe terrace. Because of the heavy ice, the ferry service was shut down. On this side of the river there were slaughtering enthusiasts, and on the other side the slaughtering bowls were waiting for their exterminators. The ferryman's motorboat then appeared as a welcome savior and ferried the Schlachtefest visitors across the river."
The "Wörlitzer Courier" of July 26, 1904 reported in its time:
"A considerable number of friends and patrons of the owner of the Elbe terrace had gathered on Sunday for the banquet on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony; an even larger number attended the garden concert after the lifting of the table: About what was offered, both in food and drink, there is only one voice of appreciation; what wonder if the mood was an elevated one."
